September 2016 - August 2017

As a decorative art and sculpture third year intern,  I participated in weekly outdoor sculpture maintenance and spent time working with the gallery maintenance team.  I also participated in regular outreach programming with local schools, helped with an arms and armor storage project, and the  installation and de-installation of many projects including A Wheatfiled on a Summer's Afternoon,  which required OSHSA regulated lift training certification. Treatment work included an American silver with Japanese cloisonne teapot, a Viennese gilded porcelain coffee set, Collar by Linda MacNeil, Curve 1 by Ellsworth Kelly, marble and Italian terrazzo pedestals, a Chinese ivory stand, and extensive work on an 8th century Chinese earthenware tomb figure.

PITT RIVERS MUSEUM

Summer 2015

As a graduate summer intern I participated in weekly integrated pest management procedures, the yearly emergency planning, and treated objects ranging from leather, plant fibers, to gourds and goat hair. I also created permanent plant fiber samples from the collection and used polarized light to capture images to add to the Pitt Rivers Museum online database.

Summer 2014

I joined the conservation team responsible for setting up a temporary lab, material identification, fieldwork, photo documentation, and conservation treatment of the excavation finds from this late Bronze Age site.

As a graduate student at SUNY Buffalo State, I've had the opportunity to treat a wide variety of art objects, as well as create, research, and test materials through hands-on labs and workshops.

As an intern at NMAI I researched and treated an important late-1800s Seneca outfit in preparation for the exhibition Nation to Nation: Treaties Between the United States and the American Indian Nations.

May 2012 - May 2013; May - August 2014

As an outdoor sculpture technician I participated in the preventative maintenance of Stanford University's vast and varied collection of over 85 outdoor works of art. I also helped with a large condition survey and in the treatment of a 50-foot totem pole: The Stanford Legacy by Don Yoemans. 

DE YOUNG MUSEUM
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

February - September 2012

As a textile intern at the de Young Museum I participated in a large costume survey; the deinstallation of The Art of the Anatolian Kilim; the installation of The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier; and Bouquets to Art 2012.  I also prepared condition reports and created custom storage.

MUSEO TEXTIL DE OAXACA
OAXACA, MEXICO

Summer 2011

As a textile intern at the Museo Textile de Oaxaca in the historic center of the city, I created custom storage for a collection of feather fans and hundreds of embroidery fragments. I also cleaned textiles and participated in exhibition prep.

OBERLIN COLLEGE LIBRARY PRESERVATION LAB

March 2001 - July 2003

As an undergraduate at Oberlin, I repaired damaged circulating library books and Special Collections maps, created storage boxes, and trained new technicians.

PERSONAL PROJECT, HERBARIUM

Fall 2015

As a volunteer at the Eckert Herbarium at SUNY Buffalo State, I created new acid-free backing boards and helped update the storage of an incoming 1934 plant collection from Quebec.

Summer 2012

An early 1900's Edwardian dress, cleaned and sparingly altered in collaboration with conservators Beth Szuhay and Banu Casson. Worn on August 18, 2012.
